Esther Köksal

Esther Köksal, BS, Pre-Licensed Doctoral Candidate

One of the challenges of life is not knowing who we are supposed to be, or where we are supposed to go, but if you’re willing to take the journey to selfhood with me, I’d love to help you find the answers for yourself. Carl Jung once said, “the world will ask you who you are, and if you don’t know, the world will tell you.”

Some of my specialties include finding coping strategies for managing stress and trauma-related disorders such as PTSD, stress, burnout, anxiety and depression, as well as coping and self-management skills for neurodivergent disorders such as ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder. Using an interpersonal and psychodynamic lens, my therapeutic approach is guided by the firm belief that every individual who comes to seek therapy is worthy and deserving of kindness and care.

Being neurodivergent, myself, has allowed me a personal insight into the struggles some of my neurodivergent clients face. I offer a perspective on effective self-management strategies, interpersonal, and coping skills. Having a research background in ethnic and psychological anthropology has helped me develop a very unique approach to multicultural diversity wherein I strive to foster a judgement-free, culturally respectful environment, where you are invited to be your unapologetic, uniquely beautiful self. Individuals who typically contact me for services are individuals with symptoms of PTSD, adults and adolescents with neurodivergent disorders such as ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder, and adults in recovery for substance use seeking coping skills and trauma therapy.

My professional history in the field of psychology began with a research interest in the philosophy of metaphysics and psychoanalysis, which eventually blossomed into my interest into interpersonal, humanistic, and Gestalt psychology. I have a degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, which allows me to not only take a deep dive with you on a journey through your past, present, and future, but use behavior analysis to identify function and purpose of behaviors, as well as how to manage them. I opened a private therapeutic practice in Germany with my husband, where we offered individual therapy for stress and trauma-related disorders, as well as taught lectures and seminars about resilience skills building. When I am not helping individuals seek growth, meaning, and healing in their lives, I teach lectures of my own design about the journey to selfhood, resilience skills building, and making the burdens of life manageable.

I am looking forward to working with you!
